Meet Phil Craig

Coach Philip Craig founded CrossFit Hoka Hey with his wife, Maria, in 2014 in Hemet, California. From humble beginnings, Phil has helped the local community grow stronger and healthier through CrossFit, with the dedicated support of family and friends.

Known as one of the most down-to-earth trainers around, Phil holds a B.A. in Sports Science from the University of La Verne and is CrossFit Level 2 Certified. Before coaching, he played professional football in Europe, bringing a deep passion for fitness and performance to every athlete he trains.

Meet Maria Craig

A mother of eight, a competitor at heart, a gym warrior, and, above all, a woman of faith.

Life is anything but slow-paced for Maria. From raising her children with love and devotion to pushing herself in the gym, she thrives on challenge, competition, and growth. She’s not just showing up—she’s giving her all, every single day. Whether she’s lifting heavier, moving faster, or striving to be better than yesterday, her competitive spirit fuels her.

But Maria’s strength doesn’t just come from her training—it comes from God. Her faith is the foundation of everything she does. In every challenge, every victory, and even in the struggles, she leans on Him for guidance, strength, and purpose.

She’s living proof that you can be strong, competitive, and deeply rooted in faith—that you can chase your passions while raising a family and keeping God at the center.

Maria is not just a mother, not just an athlete—she’s an inspiration. She reminds us that with faith, hard work, and an unstoppable spirit, all things are possible.

In September 2023, she earned her CrossFit Level 1 Certification, followed by her Level 2 Trainer Certificate in January 2025. Passionate about fitness and nutrition, Ava is committed to helping others achieve their goals, using her own journey as inspiration to guide and motivate athletes of all levels.
